Kawasaki enters the 600 war with the new ZX6r

With the development of the stunning new ZX-6R, Kawasaki have made a dramatic departure from the broad-spectrum appeal of their earlier machines thus giving the new bike a much stronger track bias. With the aggressive styling of the new ZX, the re-worked engine, chassis, riding position and overall performance, it makes the new ZX6RR a serious competitor for the 'King of the 600's' crown.

The ZX-6R carries over the 636 cc engine (but not much else) from last year’s 6R, while the ZX-6RR is a limited production race-oriented machine equipped with special engine and chassis features for 600cc class racing. Both bikes run new, lightweight aluminium frames with a central Ram Air duct, revised steering geometry and new sub-frames. Some of the numerous advanced features include upsidedown forks, radial-mounted front calipers, lighter wheels and the closest thing you can get to a GP instrument package. The new fuel-injected engines produce more power, have higher rev limits, weigh less and are more compact. The cylinder head, valve train, cylinders, transmission, crankcases and many more components are all completely new. Engine weight has been significantly reduced and performance increases are all too obvious. In addition to the above modifications, the ZX-6RR engine features a more over-square bore/stroke ratio for increased high-rpm performance, forged pistons and a torque limiter for the clutch. The chassis gets an adjustable swingarm pivot. An optional race kit is available from Kawasaki and offers a wider range of tuning parts, including a programmable ECU and tuning parts for the clutch.

The aggressive styling says it all. No one who sees this bike will mistake it for anything else other than an totally comitted top class supersport machine. This bike will be hard to beat on any road or track, no one who rides them will have any doubt that they are the most hard-core machines in the 600 category.
