MotoGP
champion Valentino Rossi debuted in the Rally of Great Britain
driving a Michelin backed Peugot 206 WRC.
And although the 23 year old crashed out
on just the second stage, the potential was clearly there.
At the end of his first ever day of competitive
rally driving, he was lying 25th in the field, ahead of veterans
like Stig Blomquist and Gwyndaf Evans, both in similarly capable
cars.
Bearing in mind that even outgoing world
champion Richard Burns has struggled to get to grips with the 206
WRC this year, it's fair to say that if Rossi and Michelin decide
to pursue this as a next career then there's every chance that he
will be needing another trophy cabinet soon.
Good luck to him either way.
